Water Test Calculator offers free trials on both subscription tiers, 7 days on the annual subscription, 3 days on the weekly. During the trial, you have full premium access. If you cancel before the trial ends, you owe nothing. If you don’t cancel, the subscription converts to paid at the regular rate.

This page covers what’s included in the trial, how to start, how to cancel if it’s not for you, and what happens after the trial ends.

Trial periods

SubscriptionTrial periodPrice after trial
Weekly3 days$6.99/week
Annual7 days$79.99/year
Lifetime,$299.99 one-time (no trial)

What you get during the trial

The trial is full premium, same access as paying subscribers:

  • Unlimited test history
  • Smart wait-time notifications after chemistry changes
  • Trend analysis graphs over time
  • No ads
  • Unlimited multi-pool profiles (chlorine pool, saltwater pool, spa simultaneously)
  • Custom alert thresholds
  • All calculator features at full precision
  • Priority support during the trial

The trial is identical to paid premium. Not a “trial that disables features”.

How the 7-day annual trial actually works

  1. Day 0: Tap “Start free trial” in the app. Confirm with Face ID / Touch ID / Google. No charge happens.
  2. Days 1–6: Full premium access. Use the app normally.
  3. Day 6: Reminder notification, “your trial ends tomorrow”.
  4. Day 7: Trial ends. Charge of $79.99 to your Apple/Google payment method.
  5. Days 7–365: Continued premium for the rest of the annual subscription.
  6. Day 365: Renewal notification. Auto-renews unless you cancel.

To avoid being charged, cancel before day 7. The app continues working for the rest of the trial period even after cancellation.

How to cancel the trial

iOS

  1. Settings app → tap your name at top → Subscriptions.
  2. Find Water Test Calculator in the list.
  3. Tap “Cancel Subscription”.
  4. Confirm.

Cancellation is effective at the end of the current trial period. You retain premium access until day 7.

Android

  1. Google Play Store → tap your profile picture → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions.
  2. Find Water Test Calculator.
  3. Tap “Cancel subscription”.
  4. Confirm.

What happens after the trial ends

If you didn’t cancel

The annual subscription becomes active. $79.99 is charged. You have premium access for 12 months from the original trial start date. Auto-renewal at day 365 unless you cancel before then.

If you cancelled

The app reverts to the free tier on day 8. Test history older than 7 days is hidden but not deleted (it returns if you re-subscribe). All your pool data (volumes, preferences, settings) is preserved.

Common trial questions

Can I extend the trial?

No, Apple and Google don’t allow trial extensions. If you need more time, the cheapest option is to take the trial, then immediately take the weekly subscription ($6.99/week) for as long as you need to evaluate before committing to annual.

Can I start the trial multiple times?

No, Apple and Google only allow one free trial per Apple ID / Google account per app. If you’ve previously trialled and cancelled, future subscriptions start as paid immediately.

What if I delete the app during the trial?

Deleting the app doesn’t cancel the trial. You must explicitly cancel via the Apple/Google subscription settings. Re-install the app and you can continue the trial.

Do family-sharing members count as separate trials?

Yes, each Apple ID / Google account gets its own free trial period. A family of 4 with separate accounts could each trial independently, though the premium subscription, once purchased, is family-shareable.

What if I’m charged and want a refund?

Apple and Google process refunds for subscriptions within 14 days of charge, sometimes longer at their discretion. Water Test Calculator doesn’t process refunds directly, all transactions go through Apple/Google.

Why offer free trials?

Pool chemistry is a 12-month commitment. We want users who’ve experienced the app’s premium features during their normal pool maintenance routine to make the decision, not users who pay $79.99 sight-unseen and find out it’s not for them. The trial is a feature, not a sales gimmick.

What I’d recommend

If you’re considering the app, take the 7-day annual trial. The trial period spans a full week of pool maintenance, enough to use it on a Saturday test, mid-week adjustment, and Sunday top-up. By the end of the week, you know whether the auto-CYA targeting and notification flow are saving you time vs your current routine.

If they’re not, cancel. No harm, no charge. The free tier remains useful.

If they are, the annual price ($79.99 ÷ 52 = $1.54/week) is a low bar to clear in value, typically justified within the first month by avoided over-dosing of chlorine alone.
