Water Test Calculator has four pricing tiers: a free tier with ads, two subscription tiers (weekly and annual), and a one-time lifetime payment option. This page breaks down what’s in each, free trial periods, and how to choose the right tier for your usage.
Tier overview

| Lifetime | $299.99 one-time | , | Long-term ownership, multi-pool households |
What’s in the free tier

Free trial periods
Both subscription tiers include a free trial period, no charge during the trial, cancellable at any time before trial ends:
- Weekly tier: 3-day free trial. Trial converts to paid after day 3 unless cancelled.
- Annual tier: 7-day free trial. Best value, full week of premium during your normal pool maintenance routine.
- Lifetime tier: no trial (one-time payment, no recurring).
Which tier should you choose?
Choose Free if
- You have a single pool with stable chemistry.
- You don’t mind ads.
- You only need calculations occasionally.
- You’re trying the app before committing.
Choose Weekly if
- You’re recovering from an algae bloom or chemistry disaster and want premium for the recovery period.
- You’re opening or closing the pool seasonally and want premium for that month.
- You want to extensively test premium before annual commitment.
Choose Annual ($79.99) if
- You maintain your own pool throughout the year.
- You have multiple pools/spas to track separately.
- You want notifications and trend analysis.
- The math: $79.99 ÷ 52 weeks = $1.54/week, significantly cheaper than weekly.
Choose Lifetime ($299.99) if
- You’re committing to the app for 4+ years (lifetime pays back vs annual at ~3.75 years).
- You have a pool you’ll own long-term.
- You prefer one-time payments over subscriptions.
- The math: $299.99 ÷ 10 years = $30/year, significantly cheaper than annual over time.
The break-even math
| Holding period | Annual cost | Lifetime cost | Better choice |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 year | $79.99 | $299.99 | Annual |
| 3 years | $239.97 | $299.99 | Annual (marginal) |
| 4 years | $319.96 | $299.99 | Lifetime |
| 5 years | $399.95 | $299.99 | Lifetime |
| 10 years | $799.90 | $299.99 | Lifetime |
The break-even point between annual and lifetime is roughly 3.75 years. If you’re going to own and maintain a pool for 4+ years, the lifetime tier is the better economic choice.
Family / household sharing
App Store and Google Play family sharing applies to Water Test Calculator subscriptions, including the lifetime tier. One purchase can be shared across an Apple Family Sharing group or Google Family group, useful if pool maintenance is split across spouses, adult children, or in-laws.
Refund policy
Subscription cancellations are handled via the App Store / Play Store account settings, Water Test Calculator doesn’t process refunds directly. Lifetime purchases follow Apple/Google’s standard 14-day refund window.
